I recommend this basic corded Dremel. I use my Dremel tool on every camera I work on. It’s a very useful tool for working on cameras. There may be other good brands on the market today, but I'll stay with Dremel since the ones I own have worked so well over the years.

I bought two Dremel tools 40 years ago for my shop and they are still working, but the cords on my Dremel tools have always been a nuisance because they get in the way of my work. I plan to buy this cordless model soon and it’s what I recommend as an alternative to the corded model.

There are three Dremel bits that I use the most. One is the wire brush bit for cleaning contacts, the second is a grinder bit for removing metal, and the third is a small drill bit. This Rotary Tool Accessories Kit might come in handy when you need a specific bit. This kit gives you many bit choices.

I own this Diamond Burr Set. There are many times my camera tools (pliers and screwdriver tips) won’t fit a camera part and I have to use these burr bits to reshape the tips of my tools. There is no such thing as camera repair tools, except for a few specialized tools made by the camera maker. Most tools are made in a generic fashion for repairs on many types of equipment. This is why you have to often modify your tools to work on cameras.

Most of the drill bits that come with Dremel kits are too large for camera work. You need a Mini Micro Drill set for cameras. Unfortunately these small drill bits dull quickly and don’t last long because of their small size, but you need them for working on cameras.

I own one of these. I don’t use it much, but it does come in handy now and then to test a camera component. Most cameras run on a few volts and they don’t need a powerful power supply to run tests. This unit is as much as you’ll need to run tests.

If you work on cameras you’re going to need small Alligator Clips Test Leads. One time, in the past, I discovered that one of my alligator clips was not making a good connection during tests wasting seveal hours of my time. This brand is soldered and stamped to prevent any connection problems.

You don’t need to spend much money on an Ultrasonic Cleaner. I mainly use mine to clean rangefinder shutter movements. I remove the lenses from the shutter mechanism and put the shutter in a naphtha ultrasonic bath. Most people probably won't need a ultrasonic cleaner unless they want to clean their camera parts or rangefinder shutters.

This is the NOVETE Handheld Vacuum Cleaner. After I finish working on a camera I have to cleanup my desktop. I was using an older Black+Decker hand vacuum that would only last a few minutes before the battery gave out and needed recharging, then I discovered this Novete that has a Li-ion battery which lasts for ten minutes. I use it now in my repair shop to clean the desktop and the floor.

This is the BYB E430 Metal Architect LED Desk Lamp. I’ve purchased more than one LED desk lamp that failed to work properly. The problem is that when I’m repairing cameras I have to move the lamp often and the lamp joints start giving out over time and no longer hold the lamp in place. So far, I’ve only found two drafting table lamps that have worked for me, this BYB E430 is one of them.
