I recently bought a very nice Canon A-1 camera body that sadly started wheezing after just 2 test rolls of film with a 5fps motor drive. Knowing it was over 30 years old and having no service history, I set out to find the best Canon SLR service I possibly could. I researched several ways for several days and Abilene Camera Repair had far and away the best "street cred" of all the 35mm film camera repair services I found. Next I drilled down into ACR's web site, talked with Kori, and decided it was time to box up my A-1 for a trip to Abilene.

I received my Minolta SR-T102 back from its ACR Gold Service several days ago and, again, you blew me away with the quality of the work you did servicing the camera. After buying the camera, I spent some time cleaning the exterior of accumulated dust and grime, but your service really made it shine! The camera looked like it was new out of the box! And you took care of problems that would have become major issues in the future that I did not detect in my examination of the camera. I just received my Canon A-1 back from refurbishment today. I can’t believe this is the same camera I sent you. Although she wasn’t exactly in horrendous condition, she did need a bit of love - and you guys gave it to her.
If it was’t for the fact that I had asked you to leave her with her signs of use and age, I would swear that it was brand new. The squeak is gone, the shutter curtain sounds amazing, and the viewfinder is clearer than I have ever seen it.
And as I said, my request to leave the wear marks was honored. I love the fact that this A-1 is still mine, but works as if she’s fresh out of the box. All of this considering the not just reasonable but very affordable price I paid will definitely ensure that I’ll be singing the praises of Abilene Camera Repair to everyone and anyone I can.
I am forever grateful to you for giving me many more years of use with the first ever SLR camera I held in my hands. You can be sure that when the time comes, I’ll be coming back to you for her next tune up. Which, based on the impressive work you’ve done for me, likely won’t be for a good long while!

I sent my Pentax SP to ACR requesting the Refurbish level of service. The camera was returned in excellent working condition exactly on schedule at the price quoted with a new(er) bottom plate. The included roll of film was a nice and unexpected touch. I immediately loaded the film, shot the roll and had it processed, very pleased with the results.
I have told my friends that if they have an old cherished film camera they want restored send it to ACR as they do excellent work and won't give you the "old by the way" routine.

Just a little feedback on my Cannon A1 service. I shoot Stereo images to slide film. This is difficult since slide film is less forgiving, also both cameras must be in exact sync for action shots. Despite both cameras being in good shape (or so I thought), I could not consistently get good results, and action shots were impossible. After sending them off one at a time for the Gold Service, they work and sync perfectly. Since November 2011 I have shot in varying temperatures and lighting conditions. No more problems!! Also thanks for the advice on how to mark up the viewfinder to assist in better (for My needs) framing.

Yesterday I got back my daughter's Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic II, after your Gold service. It was locked up and had been pronounced "unrepairable" by the local 'hi-end/professional' camera shop a few years ago. It now works great! You certainly went the extra mile in restoring the dinged-up accessory ring on the lens, also. I know my daughter will be delighted to have her "best camera ever" like new again. All in all, an outstanding job, as usual!

Unable to get my favorite camera ever, a Minolta SRT 101 I bought in the Army, fixed and cleaned locally, it lay unused for over 20 years. When I found ACR online I was somewhat skeptical but sent it off for Gold Service. The camera came back like new! I called about a minor problem, sent it back and ACR fixed that immediately. This unsophisticated but easy to use camera still fits my hand perfectly after all these years. It's great to have a treasured old tool back working perfectly!

I'm writing to tell you that I am very pleased with the Gold Level repair you made to my 39 year old Canon FT camera. It came back to me very clean and seems to operate very well. I have put several rolls of film through it at varying shutter speeds and every picture but one was fine. I suspect the local Walgreens messed up the one picture but I'm not sure. Anyway, thanks again for the less-than-ten day turn around, the CD with the camera pictures, and the careful return packaging.
Looking at the CD pictures with all the parts inside my camera exposed, I know I made the right choice in sending it to an expert and not trying to fix it myself.

Just wanted to say thank you for repairing my XG-1. It looks like it did 29 years ago. I was just playing around with all the different lenses that I purchased over the years and it brought back lots of memories. I purchased the camera in Spain while in the Air Force in 1981 and I want to go "Old School" once in a while with my Minolta XG-1. In a digital age it's not often we get to take quality pictures with the good old cameras from back in the day. You did a great job and the price was right.

This has been one of the most professional repair experiences I have ever had concerning the repair of my Nikkormat that I have had since 1972. Seeing the CD of the camera taken apart was most amazing. The entire repair process, from starting with your site, printing out the form, packaging, etc was made very efficient with the good instructions. And certainly the price was very reasonable for the level and quality of work you do. I am very appreciative. Everyone told me for years that I might as well discard the camera; that there were no parts anymore and no one to repair it. Now with its new light meter and total rehab, it should have another life.

Receive my camera (Canon FT) last Tuesday ...very well packed...very clean...looked at the CD, you provided, of the mechanical parts of the camera, before service....mounted the original standard lens FL55mm 1.2 and loaded the complementary film and commence shooting some pictures. Also tested with FD35-105mm and FD24mm lens. Tested all the functions with various shutter speeds, various apertures, and some flash shots. Took the film to COSTCO 1hr. processing service.
CONCLUSION: Excellent photos....all were clear and sharp...for a 40+ year old REFURB, Its worth it.

I've just received my Canon A1 from ACR, where it underwent Rush-Gold Service. Words cannot describe my excitement. The camera is incredibly repsonsive, viewfinder big and bright and the shutter is snappy. Your tech even replaced my mirror! The finish looks and feels like it just rolled out of Canon Japan, 30 years ago. I've found my repair shop from now on!

Dropped my beloved 25-year old Minolta X-700 , which caused a major malfunction; it no longer worked. Research online revealed that ACR repaired SLR cameras. Sent it off to them. Wow! less than two weeks later it was returned, and looks and works better than when new! A full overhaul, more than I expected, with a photo CD showing all the work that was performed. Would highly recommend ACR, as they seem to be the only honest, dependable, and reliable place left that still performs quality camera repairs.

I would like to compliment you on the thoroughness of fixing my Pentax ME . I saw many pieces replaced, more than I expected. Even little things like the self-timer lever, view finder eyepiece, film advance/rewind indicator, memo holder and shutter controls were new looking. I would think that such attention to detail would have also been paid to the internal parts as well. I can actually feel the difference as I wind the film, as it is easier and smoother than before. You must have replaced some circuitry as the light meter is working like new again. Even with the $175 price tag plus rush service, I feel that I got my money's worth. This camera is 30 years old and will last another 30 years now. Hooray for a job well done ! I would gladly recommend your service to others.

I was literally at a loss for words to describe how pleased, no, ECSTATIC I am with the service ACR performed on my Nikon F .
I had waited for years to be able to get a clean F with the plain prism finder. I won one on eBay in early October '06 and sent it on to ACR for a "Gold" service a few days after I received it. I really didn't go over it much except to notice that the mirror bumper was crumbling and there was a "floater" in the finder -- probably a spot of fungus. About the latter -- I just hoped that ACR could stabilize it; I could have lived with it as it was. To my absolute delight ACR *replaced the viewfinder prism* as part of the repair (they also replaced the self-timer, which I had not checked). They just went ahead and did it and got the camera back to me within 2 weeks (I did splurge for the "rush" service). To anyone who sees this -- have no doubt that ACR will do a first rate job on servicing your camera! And to those of you who might have a junker lying around -- please send it to ACR so that other cameras might live!

My camera was handed down to me by my father and means a lot to me, but the foam had deteriorated and levers were stiff. Needless to say, the pictures I was getting back were not their best. I let it sit in a drawer for a long time because I thought it wouldn't work and that no one makes repairs to them anymore. Boy was I wrong, and I have gotten some awesome pictures back prove it! However, this review is not about the restoration ACR performed on my Canon Tlb (which was excellent) or about their customer service (also excellent). I just wanted to say that when something went wrong after the repair they really stood by their warranty. ACR had my camera back to me so fast that I couldn't believe it and it was a very positive experience! I can't reccommend them more highly.

I just got back the 1973 Canon FTbn that I learned to shoot on as a boy (my father recently gave it to me and I sent it to you guys). It's not only in beautiful working order. The camera looks gorgeous and being from 1973 it's built like a tank. There had been a few major problems (shot counter had ceased to operate, self-timer had ceased to operate, ASA window was totally blackened, shutter speed dial only slightly less so) and all have been replaced or cleaned up and fixed (I surmise replaced judging by their newness). All in all, fantastic and I plan on having another 33 years out of it at least. It gives a hell of a run to my relatively new Nikon F100, and that my friend is saying a lot. Now I just have to send you my dad's lenses. Again, thank you so much.

I just returned from a two week trip to Switzerland which was the first major test of my Canon FT-QL since you serviced it in February. It performed flawlessly; like new. I honestly didn't think my camera was repairable (Minolta SR-T 102). I put off sending it in, knowing that I would be disappointed with the outcome. When I dropped it, I was spending the summer in Russia and my entire trip stopped. I finally got up the nerve to send the camera in for repair. You have amazed me! I wanted to keep all original outside parts if possible. You actually beat out the huge dent, just to fulfill my request! Not only does it work, but it works better than when I bought it! The pictures of the repair procedure were great and the film and cleaning kit were above and beyond, thank you! Sirs: Just a BIG THANK YOU. I own a Minolta X-570 that was locked up. I sent it in thru a local camera shop, to Minneapolis for repairs. It came back as "no parts available". Needless to say I was pi...... So I happened onto your web site thinking there must be somebody that can repair this camera. I just ran a roll of film through my Canon A1 . WOW!!!! My Canon A1 is now in "A1" Shape. Good as New! The last place I sent it to tried to fix it a common Canon Squeak by filling it with oil. If you Love you old camera like I do, send it to ACR!!!
